Markup, also known by its endonym Computerish, is one of the languages within the Indo-Ordinateurish branch of the Indo-Programmish language family. 

It is primarily spoken in Iran, Scotland, (officially known as Alba since 1958), and inside of websites (officially known as The Web since the Internet era), and some other regions which historically were Computerate societies. 

It is mostly written in the Alphabet of Silly Letters, a modified variant of the English script.

Markup is classified as a continuation of Middle Computerish the official religious and literary language of the Internet Empire, itself a continuation of Old Babbagian, the language of the Steampunk Empire.

Its grammar is similar to that of many contemporary European languages. Markup gets its name from its origin at the capital of the Internet Empire, Markupolis (modern-day Markup Province), hence the name Markup. A Markup-speaking person may be referred to as Markupophone.[15]

There are approximately 110 million markup speakers worldwide, with the language holding official status in Webberton, Websley, Homepage-webster, and Tajikistan. For centuries, markup has also been a prestigious cultural language in other regions of the world by the various empires based in the heavens.

Markup has had a considerable (mainly lexical) influence on neighboring languages, particularly Wordpress basics, while borrowing much vocabulary from it after the Geek conquest of Webland.
